Cap Malheureux for soprano and ten instruments will receive its New York premiere this April as part of the 2014 MATA Festival. Talea Ensemble will perform with Charlotte Dobbs as the soloist. Cap Malheureux is part of Appeal for Identification, a large-scale music / theater work based on the ambient sounds of locations where unidentified corpses were found in New Delhi. In developing the work, Todd spent five months living and researching in the Indian capital. Its previous performance in Boston, with Rebekah Alexander as soloist, was as part of the Alea III competiiton finals.

Another work in the series, the one-minute Study for Body 22, was premiered by the Parhelion Trio as a section of Vox Nova's Fifteen Minutes of Fame series. Hear their performance below at the 5:14 mark.

September saw the premiere of a new work for violin and piano for the Orfeo Duo: The Nature of Briars, while Lyf is Laena (after Dowland) was performed by pianist Augustus Arnone at the Cell as part of Collide-o-Scope music's "Walls and Lattices" program. Other recent compositions include ...all words are already decided for Pierrot ensemble; a small piece for chamber orchestra titled A Song for Dessa, with apologies to Aaron and Charles and an arrangement of Dowland's Captain Digorie Piper, his Gailliard for two pianos.

Todd's article "The Color Field Music of John Luther Adams" was recently published in The Farthest Place: The Music of John Luther Adams, edited by Bernd Herzogenrath and published by University Press of New England.

Currently, Todd is the Executive Director of MATA.
